pdh υποτροφίεςTwo PhD positions are available to study the mechanisms by which chromatin modifying proteins and epigenetic regulators are implicated in human disease (cancer, diabetes or metabolic syndrome). More specifically the research projects focus on:

  1. Deciphering the epigenetic mechanisms of macrophage activation and M1/M2 polarization, and,

  2. Elucidating the involvement of histone modifiers in adipogenesis and metabolic syndrome.

Experience in cell culture techniques, chromatin analysis, animal handling, and basic molecular and cell biology techniques, is desirable.

Research will take place at the University of Crete Medical School and is part of a collaboration between the laboratories of Dr. S. Kampranis (epigenetic regulation of gene expression) and Dr. C. Tsatsanis (macrophage biology) and is funded by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology.

The positions are available immediately, and are accompanied by financial support for the incoming students for a minimum period of 24 months.
