Holiday Blogging

During this end-of-the-year holiday period, blogging slows down around here (as was evident last week!) And I also try to post some recipes, since you should never trust an organic chemist who can’t cook. It’s true that some of them choose not to, but they should all be able to when needed. I recall a grad-school collegue of mine whose oven, on inspection, turned out to be full of back issues of the Journal of Organic Chemistry – I think he reads this blog; he may well recognize himself in this story!

We’re getting the categories working again on the site, and I wanted to start by providing a link to all the recipes I’ve posted over the years. These have come out in several different seasons, so not all of them will be practical in Northern Hemisphere Winter conditions (especially this year, it looks like). But there are main courses, desserts, and other things in there to pick and choose from. All of them have been tested (numerous times) here in Pipeline HQ – in fact, just in recent weeks around here I’ve made the chicken pot pie, the onion soup, the chicken paprikash, the blackberry cobbler (using frozen berries picked in the summer), the joojeh kebab , the chicken and corn soup, and more. At Thanksgiving I made both the chocolate pecan pie and the cranberry lime pie. We’re having the adas pollo tonight, and cornbread is making its usual appearance on New Year’s Day, along with bean soup. We do eat other stuff around here, in case you’re wondering, but those certainly come up this time of year!

And I’ll certainly add a couple to the list in the coming days, along with, who knows, a post on chemistry or some other such boring subject. A happy holiday season to everyone out there who celebrates!
